Waiting for hospital appointments can be stressful, but a new initiative from Harrogate and District NHS Foundation Trust offers a solution.

Now, patients at Harrogate District Hospital can receive most outpatient appointments directly on their mobile, tablet, laptop, or PC, rather than waiting for the post to deliver them.

By registering on the secure Patients Know Best (PKB) platform, patients will receive an email notification when an appointment is scheduled. They can then log in to PKB to view the details securely.

Residents of Harrogate & District can register for PKB using the NHS login via the Patients Know Best website www.patientsknowbest.co.uk and choose the NHS login option.

Beyond viewing appointments, patients can also request to change or cancel appointments through PKB—eliminating the need to call the hospital and helping reduce missed appointments. If a patient does not respond to the email notification, a letter is sent by post to ensure no appointments are missed.

PKB also allows patients to share their account with a trusted family member or friend, helping those who rely on others for transportation or assistance. However, this option may not suit everyone, especially if privacy is a concern regarding specific appointments.

Patients can access their online appointment details anytime, including during check-in at the hospital, making misplaced appointment letters a thing of the past. Over 30,000 patients in the Harrogate area are already using this convenient service, and we hope many more will join.
