Richard brings over fifteen years’ experience in advising businesses and individuals on commercial transactions and is recognised in the current edition of independent directory Legal 500 as an expert in the commercial management of intellectual property and franchising, alongside his corporate and transactional work. As one of only a handful of franchise law specialists throughout the South West, Richard recently led the sale of the Approved Franchise Association to the British Franchise Association (bfa), the original trade association for franchising in the UK.
Although Richard enjoys a broad practice involving healthcare, retail, food and drink and energy, he is particularly known for his expertise in the technology and media space, where recent work has involved sectors including adtech and digital marketing, e-commerce, software contracts and virtual reality applications in sport and aviation; Richard’s specialisms include mergers and acquisitions, reorganisations and corporate restructuring, domestic and international joint ventures, investment and distribution arrangements, private equity and corporate finance advice.
