JAMIE T

South Londoner Jamie T had some 180 songs written in the five-and-half-years since the release of 2016’s Trick. “I was struggling to find my direction with the record for a few years, really,” he admits. Bunkered in his East London home studio, he wrote and rewrote, playing all the guitar and keyboard parts himself.
“I went home one day, and I found this track that I had recorded, pretty much fully finished. And I was really upset, because I realised that I’d spent the last six months asking other people to tell me if something was good. Then I heard this track and I just immediately knew I’d kind of found my path.”

Isle Of Wight power pop specialist Lauran Hibberd releases debut album ‘Garageband Superstar’, out August 19th via Virgin Music. She will be doing a series of instore dates to support the release. With glittering acclaim circulating throughout the tastemaker community (NME, The Line Of Best Fit, Dork, DIY, Billboard, NYLON, Clash, Gigwise, Upset), and significant praise across the BBC Radio 1 airwaves (Annie Mac, Jack Saunders, Gemma Bradley), Hibberd’s status continues to grow ahead of the record’s release, and with multiple festival dates and an autumn UK headline tour to come, she’s certainly primed to take full advantage.

The now 25-year-old songwriter has spent recent years building an increasingly familial fan base, with regular streamers and followers in their multi-millions. Across multiple EP releases, including 2020’s ‘our little angel’ EP and his most recent 2021 single ‘death wish’, Pillsbury has piqued critical interest from titles including i-D, NME, The Line of Best Fit, Highsnobiety and DIY Magazine, who highlighted his forthcoming album in their ‘Class of 2022’ tips issue. Role Model has also enjoyed heavy support from BBC Radio 1, with ‘death wish’ receiving an exceptional review on Jack Saunders’ ‘Future Artists’ show.

Soulful Edinburgh-born newcomer Brooke Combe – now based in East and Midlothian – enjoyed a remarkable breakthrough year in 2021, which culminated in winning the Breakthrough Female prize at the Scottish Music Awards.
ANTHRAX

July 18, 2021 marked Anthrax’s 40th anniversary, during which time the band released 11 studio albums, was awarded multiple Gold and Platinum certifications, received six GRAMMY nominations, and a host of other accolades from the media, the music industry, and fans. In 1991, the band helped break down race and genre barriers when they collaborated with Public Enemy on the track “Bring The Noise,” and was the first metal band to have its music heard on Mars when NASA played “Got The Time” to wake up the Mars Rover in 2012. Along with Metallica, Slayer, and Megadeth, Anthrax is a card-carrying member of The Big Four, the four bands that defined the speed/thrash/metal genre.

The Reading-based four piece have propelled their way to the forefront of the UK Rock landscape seemed with formidable riffs, anthemic choruses and ferocious live shows. Following the release of their debut album in 2017, and hotly topped as ‘one of the most exciting rock bands that this country has produced’ (Gigwise), the band achieved two top 10 albums in under two years and sold out tours around the world. Following two huge Top 10 records and sold out shows across the globe, one of the UK’s most exciting band. The Amazons have announced their stratospheric, anthem-packed new album How Will I Know If Heaven Will Find Me – out on 2nd September on Fiction Records. The album is introduced with their anthemic new single ‘How Will I Know?’, premiered on Clara Amfo’s Radio 1 show.
FRANK TURNER

Frank Turner’s ninth studio album ‘FTHC’, hit the top spot in the UK charts last month, marking his first release to achieve this. The album was recorded at ARC – Abbey Recording Studios – just outside of Oxford and produced/mixed by Rich Costey (Foo Fighters, Muse, Biffy Clyro). The album darts between punk, folk, hard rock and singer-songwriter confessionals, starting with the recent single ‘The Gathering’ featuring Jason Isbell and Muse’s Dom Howard. ‘Fatherless’ is particularly revealing as Turner reflects on childhood trauma. ‘A Wave Across A Bay’ is a tribute to his friend, the late Scott Hutchison of Frightened Rabbit. The album ends with a rumination on leaving the capital after 7300 days for a new life on the Essex coast with the bittersweet ‘Farewell To My City’. It’s a mini autobiography rooted in time and place, but one that ultimately accepts that it’s time to move on.
CRAWLERS

Liverpool-based four-piece CRAWLERS are one of the UK’s hottest & most exciting new bands on the scene, who recently signed to Polydor Records, are enjoying success with their hit single ‘Come Over (Again)’ which has already racked up over 15.5 million streams on Spotify and one million views on YouTube. CRAWLER’s debut tour in March/April has completely sold out, with the quartet playing to over 1,000 fans in their hometown alone.
