The Lancing College campus covers some 550 acres of the South Downs National Park. It is situated just 10 miles from Brighton and Hove and offers a unique combination of heritage and British tradition infused with a modern, cosmopolitan, outward-looking approach.
With some 600 pupils, our vibrant school offers plenty of opportunity for fun and friendship, alongside a strong sense of community where everyone has their place and is well known. The Lancing ethos cultivates responsible, sociable and considerate young people, promoting confidence and self-reliance in a lively and enjoyable environment.
Lancing seeks to offer academic excellence, inspiration and enrichment for every pupil; this approach means that we take time to value each individual and to give them space to grow, supported and encouraged as they develop. We teach our students to be curious and to think deeply, for themselves and for the right reasons, underpinned by the essential attributes of learning. Our school is not an exam factory and our teachers take delight in going far beyond teaching to the test.
Feeling at home
Lancing is far more than just a school. It is a home for all our pupils, whether day or boarding. When pupils arrive at Lancing, they join one of ten Houses; the House will become home for their entire time at Lancing, the place where they make firm friendships and have the strong support network of pastoral staff. Housemasters and Housemistresses, alongside their supporting, teams play a vital role in making the Houses homely.
An inspiring co-curricular programme
Lancing is well-known for its academic excellence, but we passionately believe that young people flourish when they are given the opportunity to explore their wide array of interests beyond the classroom.
There are over 120 clubs, societies and activities open to all pupils from the Third to the Sixth Form. This gives the students the opportunity to meet with pupils from other year groups and Houses practising a sport or rehearsing for the various plays and concerts, which greatly adds to the whole sense of community at the College.
We take great pride in our wonderful location, and our beautiful and spacious grounds provide the perfect setting for facilities which range from acres of sports pitches to the swimming pool, drama studio and theatre, to the sports hall and ever-busy Music School.
“Lancing has a broad spectrum of activities and has allowed me to seek my own path. I have enjoyed rock climbing, sailing, singing with Lancing Choir and the free time to pursue my own thing.”
