CHELTENHAM: Lilian Faithfull Care charity opens specialist end of life care suite in Cheltenham
It’s charity Patron, Lady Bathurst recently opened ‘The Fairhaven Suite’, a dedicated end of life care suite at St Faith’s in Cheltenham…
Separate to the main home, The Fairhaven Suite will give privacy, peace and comfort for adults in their final days, weeks or months. A key part is the support, space and facilities it offers to families and friends, enabling them to spend quality time with their loved ones.
The Fairhaven Suite has grown out of the experience and expertise of the nursing team who have guided the design. After extensive remodelling and refurbishment, there are nine spacious suites, each with an ensuite wet room.
Home Manager Teresa explains, “The Suite is away from the main nursing home so it will be peaceful. The rooms are big so they can easily be reconfigured to suit the situation and enable loved ones to also stay.”
The Suite is fully accessible and it includes lounges and kitchens for families. These kitchens are in addition to the food and refreshments provided; they have been created to offer family and friends flexibility, independence and privacy which can be particularly valued at this time.
Head Nurse, Karen explains; “As a Suite it is where the families can also feel at home and be part of the end of life journey.”
This specialist end of life care is in addition to the end of life care already offered at St Faith’s and across the charity. With so few palliative care beds in the county it has been created in response to the need for places dedicated specifically to end of life care.
The Suite will be receiving admissions from Monday 11th July, to find out more contact Teresa and the team on 01242 240240 or email stfaiths@lilianfaithfull.co.uk
