‘Level 7’ in Cabot Circus car park will open to the public for nine days, from 25th October until 3rd November, and is completely free to use and designed for any skating ability.
It’s the third time the temporary skatepark has been installed in the city center car park and this time, has been created in partnership with Subway® and Skateboard GB.
A series of programs for young people will run throughout the event, with funding secured through Sport England.
For the first time, the pop-event will include a new dedicated ‘Slow Zone’ for beginners and young people. The skateable features have been co-designed by not-for-profit organisation Campus Skateboarding and children from the local May Park Primary School, in Bristol.
In the past two years, the event has attracted over 3,000 attendees from the Bristol area and beyond.
James Hope-Gill, Chief Executive at Skateboard GB commented: “We are delighted to be working alongside Subway® to support the Cabot Circus Level 7 project this year. The ‘Slow Zone’ has given local children the opportunity to design their own obstacles and see them come to life, alongside the main skateable features at the event.
I’m delighted that this is also being supported by a Sport England grant from The Movement Fund awarded to our local partners Campus Skateboarding CIC. This support is enabling children and beginner skaters to have a place to skate as part of this event. This is really important to get new people engaged in skateboarding”.
Kirstey Elston, Subway’s EMEA Brand & UK & Ireland marketing director at Subway® said: “We have loved being part of the exciting initiative to re-launch the ‘Level 7’ indoor skatepark at Cabot Circus this October half term, where there will be new features and activities for everyone to enjoy, no matter their skating ability.
This event is part of an ongoing commitment from Subway® and Skateboard GB, to regenerate skateparks around the UK and make them vibrant and fun places that everyone can enjoy, and it’s been a pleasure working with Campus Skateboarding, CANVAS and Sports England on this project.”
