Showcasing a luxury new retail environment, Wakefields is home to an impressive collection of fine jewellery and iconic watch brands, like Rolex and Tudor. The luxury new showroom will allow them to provide their customers with a unique retail experience and further elevate their services.
First established in 1911, Wakefields is a fourth-generation, family jewellers that has been nestled in the heart of Horsham town for over 110 years. Having such an impressive history behind the business and considered a much-loved feature of the town, it was important to them that they respected their extensive heritage. The overall design of the interior has been massively inspired by Art Deco; an art style that was incredibly popular during the time Wakefields first moved into 11 West Street in the 1930’s. Every detail combines contemporary design with classic styling of the era, from the elegant bronze work to the terrazzo flooring that welcomes you in the foyer.
Following the refurbishment, the store now boasts an expanded Rolex showroom, a luxurious new bar area, and multiple viewing rooms for bridal, fine and bespoke jewellery design. Every detail has been meticulously considered when designing this new space, the focus entirely on creating an elegant yet relaxing environment where customers can all receive the same level of exceptional, personalised service whether they’re commissioning a bespoke piece of jewellery to be made, or popping in to get a new watch battery fitted.
Co-owners and siblings, Melanie and Dominic Wakefield, have worked closely with local businesses to make the concept design a reality. Melanie Wakefield said: “The past year has been an incredibly challenging time for everyone due to the pandemic and we really wanted to support other independent businesses like ourselves, such as including interior lighting from Sussex Lighting and shop-fitting by Martin Leadbeater, to incorporate their expertise in bringing our vision to life. Both Dominic and I absolutely love Horsham town and are very involved within the local community, which is also why we felt so strongly about elevating Wakefields with this new look. We wanted to create a really luxurious new retail environment and shopping experience that everyone would be proud to have as a part of Horsham.”
Focusing further on everyone’s reactions to the new look, Melanie continues: “Dominic and I love the new store, the feel is the best thing. I was concerned that it would feel smaller because of all the extra features we have added, but it really doesn’t. It has a luxe look but the feeling is still the same warm, friendly welcome. The look on customers faces when they turn around and see the bar is great, and we’ve had so many “wows”. It really makes the months of work worthwhile. We have focused a little more on incorporating our bespoke design service and on-site workshop into the new layout, it’s what we’ve been doing for a long time, but not really telling people that this is our forte, so we’re really looking forward to creating some wonderful new jewellery designs.”
If you haven’t had the chance to pop into Wakefields and see the transformation inside for yourself yet, you can visit the store during opening hours. Their team of expert consultants will be more than happy to give you a tour of the luxury new showroom, offer you a complimentary drink to enjoy at the sophisticated bar and assist you further with any enquiries you may have.
