Young Readers and Newmarket Care Home Residents Share Stories for World Book Day!

World Book Day 2025 brought a wonderful sense of connection and creativity to Brampton Manor in Newmarket, as residents welcomed pupils from Fairstead House School for a day filled with storytelling, imagination and intergenerational fun.

Enthusiastic pupils, dressed as their favourite literary characters, arrived at Brampton Manor eager to share their much-loved books with residents. From classic fairy tales to modern adventures, the children took turns reading aloud, their excitement and confidence growing with every page turned. In return, residents shared treasured memories of the books they enjoyed in their own childhoods, sparking warm conversations about favourite characters, childhood adventures, and the power of a good story.

For Jeanie, a resident at Brampton Manor, the visit was a true highlight. She said; “I have enjoyed the children visiting us to read their books and show us all their costumes. Lovely to see everyone come together and see the team get the chance to get involved too.”

The visit wasn’t just memorable for residents — the children themselves left with a sense of joy and appreciation for the time they spent together. Mrs Sanders, Reception Teacher at Fairstead House School, said; “The children had a wonderful time visiting the residents at Brampton Manor to share their favourite stories. A very big thank you to all the team for being so welcoming, and to the residents for their super storytelling and very kind books which they gave to the children. It was the perfect way to celebrate World Book Day!”

World Book Day is an important part of life at Brampton Manor, where team members are passionate about creating opportunities for residents to stay connected to the local community and to enjoy creative, stimulating activities that spark conversation, connection and joy.

Akhi Goswami, Home Manager at Brampton Manor, said; “World Book Day is always such a highlight in our home because it reminds us of the simple pleasure of sharing a story. Whether it’s a familiar classic or something entirely new, these moments of connection between residents and children are heartwarming and remind us all of the power of imagination, learning and laughter.”
