MARLBOROUGH: Welcome back to the Marici Saxophone Quartet

On Saturday 24th September, Edington Priory Church will be full of the miraculous sound of saxophones as the Marici Saxophone Quartet makes a welcome return…

Those of you who came to their last concert in Edington – in 2016! – will remember the sparkle and wonderful musicality they brought to arrangements of ‘serious’ and lighter classical music, as well as the technical brilliance demonstrated in their own compositions. In the intervening years the quartet, playing combinations of soprano, alto, tenor and bass saxophones have been busy recording, broadcasting and composing, and are delighted to be back on the road playing to live audiences.

The programme is based on their new and very successful album, Origin, and is easy on the ear, inclusive, interesting and, in their own words, “intelligent”.   Folk tunes, old favourites, new compositions, music serious and light-hearted, familiar and unfamiliar – it will be a glorious evening showing the full range of soprano, alto, tenor and bass saxophones in all their wonderful versatility.

The concert starts at 7.30pm, and tickets remain at 2014 prices; £20 (front nave), £15 (rear nave) and £10 side aisles.  There is a 10% discount for Edington Angels, and 18s and under come FREE. Full programme information is on the website now, www.edingtonarts.org, and  you can secure your tickets by emailing sue@edingtonarts.org, or by phoning Chrissy on 01380 831256.
