FOOD & DRINK: Celebrate the harvest season…

It’s no coincidence that most UK food festivals take place at this time of year, the harvest season.  Fruit, vegetables and meat are at their best and should rightly be celebrated…

Both confirmed foodies and the curious will congregate to seek out the latest tastes and flavours from local food and drink producers, and watch chefs demonstrate some new dishes to give them the inspiration they need.

Food festivals can be a real mix of really local products and cuisines from far, far away – with delicious seasonal produce like locally-grown tomatoes or plums right next to a stall selling street food dishes from South-East Asia.  One common factor is the passion that the stallholders have for what they do – you’ll see it in the care they take over the food and how they talk about how they got started and why.

We ourselves regularly attend festivals with our street food stalls The Outside Dining Room, where you can find Middle-Eastern dishes like chicken shawarma, kofte and falafel, and Vice Puddings for artisan cakes, brownies and sweet treats.

What’s happening here in the Worthing area?  Check out the following events:

  • East Preston Food & Drink Festival  28th August 12pm-5pm  Village Green, East Preston
  • Sundowners on Tour (Street Food)  3rd September 5pm-9pm Mayflower Park, Angmering
  • Worthing Food & Drink Festival  11th & 12th September 10am-5pm Steyne Gardens, Worthing

And that’s just for starters… there are plenty of other events to find by looking online.  So go explore and find the culinary treasures waiting for you at the festivals!
